Key facts at a glance

The most reliable public records are a mix of BBC announcements, a Wikipedia entry, and tabloid coverage that has followed Anderson since his Strictly appearance. What follows is a stripped-back version of what’s actually documented.

What’s striking is how little of Anderson’s biography is officially pinned down beyond his working roles. The search results confirm the job and the marriage, but the sort of details fans usually ask about — height, ethnicity, parents’ nationality — are simply not out there in reliable form.

What has happened to Ritchie Anderson?

Richie Anderson’s association with Radio 2 began in 2019, when he was named the new travel reporter — a role that put him on the lineup for one of the most listened-to shows in the UK. That part is uncontroversial. The bigger shift came in December 2024, when Anderson said on air that he would move to presenting the travel news on weekday afternoons, replacing Bobbie Pryor except on Fridays. The announcement was made directly on his show, and it was later detailed in his Wikipedia entry.

  • 2019: Named BBC Radio 2 travel reporter.
  • December 2024: Announced new weekday afternoon slot.
  • 2026: Set to present Keys and Dreams, a six-part series exploring video game soundtracks.

The 2026 series is a notable step beyond travel news — and it’s sourced to a separate BBC Media Centre announcement that doesn’t appear in the top search results for a conventional “Richie Anderson” query. If you’re trying to connect the dots, think of him as a broadcaster who has quietly expanded from traffic-and-travel into specialist factual entertainment.

Who was the radio DJ on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!?

The radio DJ who appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was not Richie Anderson. That was a different personality. Anderson has never participated in that show; his reality TV credit is Strictly Come Dancing in 2022.

What does Richie Anderson do on BBC Radio 2?

When was Richie Anderson on Strictly Come Dancing?

Anderson competed on Strictly Come Dancing in the 2022 series. He was paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, making them one of the same-sex pairings on the show that year. He was eliminated in Week 3.

Bottom line: Anderson’s Radio 2 role is a moving target, not a static job. He’s not just the travel voice anymore; he’s a presenting go-to for new lifestyle and music strands.

Who is Richie Anderson’s partner?

Richie Anderson is married to Dean Eagles, a relationship that has been public since at least 2019. The only reliable details about their marriage come from tabloid reporting and off-hand on-air comments. The Mirror describes Eagles as Anderson’s “long-term partner” and confirms the wedding took place in 2019. But the article is built around the couple’s private life away from cameras — so it tells you more about how they keep things intimate than about their day-to-day home.

The implication: Dean Eagles’ profession is not confirmed in any of the provided top results, and his role outside Richie’s story is a gap in the record.

Who is Ellie Simmonds’ partner on Celebrity Gogglebox?

Ellie Simmonds appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with Richie Anderson. This was an on-screen pairing for the show, not a romantic relationship. Anderson’s actual romantic partner is Dean Eagles.

The key thing to understand: Dean Eagles’ profession is not confirmed in any of the provided top results, and his role outside Richie’s story is a gap in the record. What is solid is that the couple have been together through the Strictly storm and the schedule shifts — and they do it without shouting about it.

Strictly Come Dancing 2022: why his appearance mattered

When the 2022 Strictly lineup was announced, Anderson was named as one of the contestants — but the significance went beyond the usual “personality leaves the sofa” format. As StrictlyStats documents, Anderson formed a same-sex pairing with a professional male dancer, making him part of the show’s ongoing expansion of who gets to lead and follow on the dancefloor. The Evening Standard listed him alongside Kym Marsh, Will Mellor, Tyler West, Molly Rainford, Jayde Adams, Hamza Yassin and Matt Goss — a class of contestants that gave the 2022 series a strong mix of soap stars, athletes and broadcasters.

Anderson’s run didn’t end with him lifting the Glitterball, but the cultural moment of a happy, confident same-sex pairing on prime-time Saturday TV outlasted the scores. For many viewers, that was the real win.

Bottom line: Strictly didn’t just raise Anderson’s profile; it gave him a new platform as a visible same-sex contestant at a time when representation on mainstream entertainment was still making headlines.

What the reporting is saying

Two sources stand out for describing Anderson’s trajectory, and their own words frame the story better than a summary could.

“Inside Strictly’s Richie Anderson and his long-term partner Dean Eagles’ private life away from cameras.” — The Mirror

“Richie Anderson alongside other contestants such as Kym Marsh, Will Mellor, Tyler West, Molly Rainford, Jayde Adams, Hamza Yassin and Matt Goss.” — The Evening Standard, naming the 2022 Strictly lineup

Neither source tries to boil Richie down to a single identity. The Mirror emphasises the privacy he and Dean have managed to protect; the Standard treats him as one of a group of household-name hopefuls. Together, they show a broadcaster whose private life is genuinely private, not just promotionally “exclusive”.

Richie Anderson’s public story is a reminder that a “niche” broadcaster can become a mainstream figure without ever spilling his whole life into the tabloids. The search results confirm his Radio 2 longevity, his history-making Strictly run, and a marriage that has quietly held together under public scrutiny. What they don’t confirm — the trivia, the money, the family background — says more about Anderson’s discipline than about the limits of the internet. For listeners next time they hear that voice apologising for delays on the M25, the pattern is clear: there is a lot more to that voice than traffic jams.
